Different modes of charging battery

During the bulk mode, the battery is less than 70% charged. The charger should be able to deliver as much current as possible to charging the battery. In acceptance mode, the battery is typically between 70% to 95% charged. In this mode, unit changes to constant voltage mode and pulses the charging current by 1 second on and 1 second off. The battery is fully charged in this mode. The float voltage is applied to the battery and the charging current is pulsing in 0.2 second on and 1 second off.
  • Two stage charging
The two stage, Bulk-Acceptance or Bulk-Float may be required for certain conditions or systems.  The unit can operate in two stage control by setting the charge mode to “BA” or “BF”.

  • CC/CV charge
In this charging mode, the user needs to set the voltage of CV (Constant Voltage) mode and the current of CC (Constant Current) mode.  At the beginning of charging, the unit will work in CC mode.  Once the voltage of battery arrive the CV setting, it will change to CV mode and keep on charging until battery is full.
  • Relive charge
Sometimes battery is in low voltage due to over discharge.  The user could select the relive mode to rescue the battery from damage or decay.  The charge current will be limited at tenth of C rate.  That means, the current will be set at tenth of the battery capacity.  As soon as the battery reaches the setting of relive voltage, the unit automatically turns to the normal charge mode.

Battery protection

  • OTD:  Over temperature disconnection will be tripped as soon as the temperature is higher than preset value. At this moment, the unit disables the relay in order to protect the battery. The device will stop charging the battery and last to monitor the temperature of battery. Once the temperature is lower than preset value minus 5°C, the machine will restart automatically.
  • OCD:  Over current disconnection will be enabled to prevent short circuit or heavy load of battery. OCD will be tripped as soon as the discharge current of battery is higher than preset value.  The user could only reset the warning message by disabling the OCD function.
  • LVD:  Low voltage disconnection protects the battery from over discharge. Once the voltage of battery is lower than setting value of LVD, the external relay will be opened and disconnected to the load. There is a warning message showed in LCD panel. The warning message will be reset by disabling the LVD function or in the case of battery voltage is higher than setting value of LVD.
